What does 'Concurrent User Limit Exceeded' mean?
Professional Investigator limits the number of copies you can run simultaneously (or concurrently) on a network. It does this by adding 1 to a counter every time someone logs into
the program, and then subtracting 1 every time somebody closes it down again.
Initially, you will only have a license for a single user - i.e. you can only run the program on one PC at a time.
If you try to run it on two PCs at the same time, you will receive this message.
If you need to allow more than one person to access the program at the same time, you will need to buy additional user licenses, which you can do online.
If you think you have enough licenses already, check around your network and make sure that Professional Investigator hasn't been left running somewhere.
Simply close down any copies that aren't being used.
But...
this message can also appear if you didn't shut Professional Investigator down properly last time you used it (such as a power failure). This is because the program still thinks you're logged in from last time (the internal counter only gets reduced when you close down properly!)
To get over this problem, and reset the internal counter, close down any copies of Professional Investigator that are running (if this is a network) and then run the Network User Reset
program in the Professional Investigator program group (Start -> Programs -> Professional Investigator -> Network User Reset). Log in with your usual user name and password, and you should see a message confirming that you can access the program again. Click OK, then re-run Professional Investigator.
