Can I send an instruction sheet out to my agents?
Yes you can. With the addition of a great little FREE add-on, you can send any reports produced by Professional Investigator via email.
You and your agents (or whoever you want to receive the reports) will need to download a free program called eFax Messenger Plus
(don't worry about it being called eFax - it does this, too, but it's main job is emailing.) from http://www.efax.com.
Once you have downloaded and installed it, you will be able to 'print' your reports to the eFax
'printer', which will create an email for you to send using your normal email program (such as Outlook Express). The recipient can then view the attached report using their own copy of eFax Messenger Plus.
Simply follow these steps to start emailing your reports:
- Print out a report from within PI
- It will go to the preview screen, as usual.
- Click the print button (the little printer on the top right)
- When you come to the report destination dialog, you will see your usual printer displayed
- Click Select Printer
- When the Printer dialog pops up, click Setup
- On the Setup Dialog, drop down your list of printers and select 'Send with eFax Messenger Plus on LPT1:'
- Click OK until you are back to the PI report destination dialog.
- Click 'Print'.
- The eFax dialog pops up. Click Send.
- Your message will be sitting in Outlook Express (or whatever email client you use), ready for you to amend (like I'm doing now) and send in the normal way.
In the next few months, we will be releasing Professional Investigator 2001, which, amongst many other things, will have a facility to send reports via email, built in.
